Getting to know... Andrew Nicholson Part 2
In the second part of our interview with Andrew Nicholson, Ellie Kelly talks to him at his home in Wiltshire about his Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials win, life on the Nicholson yard and how his 2015 accident made him re-evaluate the way he trains.
Andrew also discusses sports psychology and tells us what his favourite BE events are.
About Andrew
New Zealand event rider Andrew Nicholson is based near Marlborough (Wiltshire), where he trains and competes his team of event horses.
Andrew has been selected to represent New Zealand in six Olympic Games, and six World Championships. He has won an Olympic team silver medal (Barcelona) and an Olympic team bronze medal (Atlanta). He also won a team gold medal at the World Championships in Stockholm (1990), and team and individual bronze medals at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in 2010. He has won the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials twice (1995 and 2000) as well as recording numerous top placings at other CCI4* events - Badminton, Pau and Luhmühlen. He holds the record for the highest number of completions at Badminton, and has topped the British Eventing rider rankings a record 12 times.
